Self-Reliance Crafts Retreat – Sorry this Course is Full, the next one is Spring 2018.
Stay in a Soulpad Tipi for a long weekend of practical crafts (all suitable for beginners) combined with healthy living. Start on the Friday evening making a leather-bound notebook to take notes during the weekend and a clay pot to make a fat candle. Friday evening is spent getting to know the other participants around the campfire – bring a pizza to put in the wood fired pizza oven. There will be a talk on Permaculture or Wild Medicine on the Friday Evening. The next day, after a relaxing morning yoga session in the garden (or stretching and meditation indoors if heavy rain) you will learn basket weaving then after a raw food lunch you will go wild food foraging. Upon your return you will make 100% natural bath bombs which will include some of the foraged flowers this will be accompanied by a talk on making your own natural toiletries. Paul Dore Bushcraft arrives early evening to teach you Fire-by Friction then the rest of Saturday evening usually involves a pub meal at the Boot and Shoe in Ellerton but this is optional as there is always the campfire and wood-fired pizza oven.
Sunday begins again with an outside Yoga session (or indoor meditation if rainy) and is followed by beeswax candle and ointment making, plus you will fill your clay pot with fat and learn how to make a nettle cordage wick for it to make a fat lamp. After a healthy raw food vegan lunch we begin a rag-rug workshop where you learn the techniques of hooky and proddy and how to turn your old rags into rugs, cushions or bags, during this session participants take time out for a 30 minute neck and shoulder/back massage, Indian Head Massage or Reflexology with a local qualified therapist (Dawn or Claire). The day finishes with bread and wild herb butter making cooked on the outside fire and eaten as our farewell snack.

And to ensure that you go home feeling both empowered with new skills AND relaxed and healthy the course includes….
* Two 50 minute Yoga sessions
* 30 min. Massage (either neck/back/shoulder or Indian Head or Reflexology).
* Two course healthy lunch each day
Course participants have use of our Tipi Glamping site facilities as detailed below plus ample free parking.
Participants stay in one of three shared tipis, each sleeping four people or less (same sex accommodation but if there is a spare tipi a couple may get their own tipi). The tipis are heated with mini wood-burners and have flop out foam chair beds, soft clean duvets, sheets and pillows. Towels can be provided for £2 per stay. If you wish to bring your own tent or van that is possible too.
There is a fire circle, a wood fired pizza oven, an outdoor kitchenette with gas hob and bucket sink, plates, pans etc. a toilet and a shower. Classes take place either in the classroom or if sunny outside.
